Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club

Imagine, sun kissed waters dotted with yachts as the background for your corporate or social event, the sea so close you can smell it.

Established in 1883, Wellington’s premier yacht club has three great rooms available for hire, and sits on the south edge of Wellington Harbour, providing a stunning panoramic view of the waterfront while only being a few minutes walk from the CBD.

Completely secluded on the water’s edge between the iconic Wellington boatsheds, with plenty of natural light and indoor-outdoor spaces – there really is no better place to host delegates and entertain guests.

All three rooms are fully air-conditioned, have the latest audio-visual techology installed and come with high-speed WiFi.

Black & Gold are the dedicated in-house caterers for all venues we operate. 

Our dedicated team of chefs can easily cater to all your food and beverage needs at the Yacht Club, from canapes at your networking drinks, right through to a private boardroom dinner.

Our menus have been specifically designed to be balanced meals, while giving you maximum freedom of choice. We use fresh, local and seasonal produce, and to cater for as many of your guests’ dietary requirements as possible, we offer a large number of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian options as part of our core offering.

We are always happy to tailor menus to your specific needs.


Coene’s Restaurant is located within the Yacht Club, and is one of Wellington’s best and most popular eateries. It has views over Wellington Harbour, and is a great option for lunch or post-meeting drinks and dinner.


We understand how essential quality audio-visual solutions are to every event. This is why Black & Gold chooses to partner with leading supplier AV Media, who have installed top of the range equipment in the Yacht Club’s Noel Manthel Boardroom and Wardroom. 

The team at AV Media are specialists, and will work with you to ensure all all areas of your event are managed with the correct equipment, and experienced technicians will be available on-site.
