Harbourside Function Centre

A conference venue created from what was once an historic Wellington wharf warehouse that stored wool, wood and flax in one of its working lives, and a brewery in another.

The building formerly known as ‘Shed 22’ has been transformed into Harbourside Function Centre – a venue offering six versatile spaces on three levels, all right on the Waterfront.

Harbourside has had its impressively high stud spaces convered into architecturally designed meeting, conference and social spaces: the brick walls and metal joinery of the saw tooth roof give an industrial New York loft feel, while the half-moon windows and glass ceilings flood the rooms with natural light.

In its largest layout combining the Te Aro and Waterfront rooms, Harbourside can accommodate up to 350 people seated theatre style, over 200 for a banqueted dinner, and up to 650 for a stand-up cocktail or social event.

All rooms are air-conditioned, have high-speed Wifi, and disabled access.

Harbourside is a hop, skip and jump from Te Papa National Museum, only a few minutes walk from Wellington CBD, and just 20 minutes drive from Wellington airport.

The ANZ helped organise a Cancer Society Jingo Bingo and auction fundraising event. More than 120 people sitting at tables for 10 attended.

“[Black & Gold Events] have been extremely accommodating, gave us great ideas on set-up and how we could expect it to run. I would highly recommend them, based on all my dealings and the clear communications with the team at Black & Gold Events.”

The post-parade ending and meet point for the Wellington International Pride Parade was at Harbourside Event Space.

“The level of excellence and attention to detail was exemplary and the prompt communication with open dialogue from the team greatly benefitted our project. They were willing to take an ordinary occasion and make it an extraordinary event, and without fail made themselves available for impromptu meetings, welcomed our guests, supported our every requirement and gave suggestions on economically viable ways to enhance the look and feel of our event.”

New Zealand’s inaugural iHemp Summit 2018 took place over three days in Wellington as companies, farmers, scientists, funders and regulators shared knowledge and strategies on how to grow the crop’s image and production across its food, fibre and medicine potential. A sell-out conference event of 250 people, along with trade displays in the combined Waterfront Room and Te Aro Room
understood the NZ market at its finish.

“Just a very quick note to thank you for helping to put on a memorable summit; one which people will be talking about for some time to come.”

The Black & Gold team were absolutely brilliant catering our Life Flight Gala, presented by Hiremaster. It’s our most important night of the year and held in the unique but also challenging environment of a working emergency services base. The Black & Gold team fitted in seamlessly with our many safety and operations protocols and the food was of course incredibly good!
